What is the difference between a contested and uncontested divorce?

Not all divorces are the same. In fact, there are two different types of divorce our firm handles:

  • Contested divorce: This happens when the parties involved can't agree on one or more elements of the divorce, such as division of assets, child custody or debt allocation.
  • Uncontested divorce: This happens when both parties agree on every divorce-related issue. An uncontested divorce case is usually less expensive and time-intensive than a contested divorce.
